Our replacement decoy heads are crafted using the latest advanced printing technology to deliver unmatched realism, durability, and consistency. Each head begins as a carefully designed blend of hand-sculpted artistry and precision computer modeling. Every species is test printed, refined, resized, and reworked until we achieve the perfect proportions, realistic detail, and proper species representation.
We don’t stop until every decoy head looks authentic, fits correctly, and is built to withstand years of hunting conditions.
Our heads will be available in both traditional unpainted black plastic and — for the first time ever — fully colored molded plastic that never requires touch-ups or repainting. The color is molded directly into the material, creating the only decoy heads on the market using this groundbreaking technology.
We will offer a wide variety of species and sizes designed to fit many of the most popular foam decoy bodies, including Herter's Decoys, Homer Decoys, Restle Decoys, and many more.
Instructions, tips and details
Painting our decoy heads is simple and straightforward. Before painting, we recommend wiping each head down with acetone or mineral spirits to remove any residue from the manufacturing process. After cleaning, apply a quality high-build primer to help hide minor imperfections that may occur during the printing process and create a smooth surface for painting.
Some undersides of the bills may have a slightly rough texture. If desired, these areas can be carefully smoothed using gentle heat from a flame and lightly wiping the surface smooth. Use extreme caution — DO NOT overheat or burn the heads, as they are plastic and can melt if too much heat is applied. Slow and easy is the key.
Like any decoy component, our heads can be damaged if excessive force is applied. Open-mouth decoy heads should be handled with additional care, and we strongly recommend storing them in individual slots within slotted decoy bags for maximum protection during transport and storage.
